The 2nd Louisville Fringe Festival gets underway this week, and festival producer Eli Keel, participating artist, Josh Carroll, and stage manager Darian Doom-DeVoto came in to discuss the festival and why “fringe” matters. Eli Keel is a playwright, actor, and journalist. Eli is also a non-binary queer who is bi-polar. They are a member of the 2019 cohort of the Hadley Creatives, Co-founder of Louisville Fringe Festival, and have had work produced by Theatre 502Looking for Lilith Theatre CompanyDerby City PlaywrightsSpalding UniversityPPINK, 1619 Flux: Art + Activism, and Suspend the Moment Productions LLC. They won the Arts-Louisville.com award for best new play, the Theatre [502] Produced Nobody Bunny in the Golden Age of Animation.

Josh Carroll has been a professional theatre maker for over 15 years. As an Actor, Director, Playwright, and Administrator, Josh has worked across the country, most recently at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival and Kentucky Opera. He has worked with American Theatre Company, Piven Theatre Workshop, Metropolis Performing Arts, First Folio Theatre, the Bloomington Playwrights Project, and Alicja w Krainie Czarów with Theatre Polonia. He is one half of the reigning, defending, Louisville Championship Arm Wrestling Terrific Twosome Champions.

 Darian Doom-DeVoto is a theatre artists who studied music theatre at Western Kentucky University and is working as a Stage Manager for the 2019 Louisville Fringe Festival
