Tomisha Lovely-Allen is a self-taught artist from Louisville, KY. She has been a passionate creator for as long as she can remember. She earned a full scholarship at Northern Kentucky University and graduated with a Bachelor's in Accounting and Associate in Business Administration in 1998 and earned a Certified Public Accountant license in 2002.
She was chosen to illustrate a historic Kentuckian woman in the “Bluegrass Bold” children’s book project along with 35 other female artists, exhibit at the Arts Center of the Bluegrass Show “The Art of Being Black: Conversations and Experience,” and be grant recipient to the Fund for the Arts '“Black Artist Grant”.
Portland Museum opens the "Made in Portland" exhibition on September 23, which is part of the 2023 Portland Art & Heritage Fair, and 1 of the artists, Noah Howard & Shannon Delahanty, Creative Coordinator at the Museum joined us in the studio to talk about it. Teri Dryden is a Louisville, Kentucky-based artist, having moved here from Los Angeles following a career in theater and performance. A fiber artist for several years, she eventually became an abstract painter and collage artist.
She is a member of the Collage Artists of America, National Collage Society, and Women Painters West. Her work is included in many private and public collections and has been exhibited in numerous solo, group, and juried exhibitions across the U.S. Her solo show, And We Floated On Home, opens at WheelHouse Art on May 21.
Andrew Preston is the owner/manager of Preston Art Center, a locally owned family business since 1941. But he is also an artist who will be exhibiting his most recent work in Putting the Bling in Marbling to be shown at Preston Art Center’s Jeffersonville location also beginning May 21.

Mary Carothers has been a professor at Hite Art Institute, Louisville, Kentucky since 1998 and is currently the Department Chair. Her artworks are often site-specific. Carothers’ collaborative project with Sue Wrbican , The Frozen Car (2008) was featured on the Discovery Channel, Floating Seeds (2013), juried by COD+A (Commission of Design and Architecture) received an international merit award and most recently, her sculptural commission Beneath the Surface was recognized by Americans for the Arts as one of 38 of the most outstanding public art projects created in 2015. Beneath the Surface was reinstalled permanently at Great Meadows Estate owned by Al Shands in 2016.
Originally from Southern California, Kat Cox joined the Fine Arts faculty at University of Louisville in the middle of 2021. Previously, Kat was living and working in Northern California as an Art Lab Technician and Adjunct Professor. She is a 2019 graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with her Masters of Fine Arts in Art focusing on ceramics. She received her Bachelors of Fine Arts from California State University Long Beach in the spring of 2015. She has worked in clay and fibers since a young age and uses both mediums within her work. Kat’s work has been exhibited at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, and The Epperson Gallery.
