Shauntrice Martin is just one artist featured in "Perspectives: 35 African American Artists" at Moremen Gallery. (Kenyatta Bosman, who took this picture at the opening, is another). Shauntrice is a Black/Choctaw contemporary artist & curator loving in Kentucky. She was the inaugural Speed Art Museum Artist-In-Residence and Louisville Visual Art (LVA) Curatorial Fellow. Shauntrice's museum solo exhibition "Something in the Water" was featured at the Speed Art Museum 2021-22. Most recently, she curated a permanent exhibit entitled "Sweet Fire" with Play Cousins Collective in the Historic Lyles Mall. Her exhibit at the Muhammad Ali center, We Don’t Wither, featured seven local artists.
"Perspectives 2023" showing December 8 through January 28 is a group show of works by over 30 black artists from Louisville and the surrounding region. Filling the entire gallery space, this exhibition highlights the depth, talent and diversity of the artists’ perspectives. Work includes paintings, sculpture, photography and installations. This exhibit offers a profound exploration of the artists' unique perspectives, their diverse voices, and the impact they have on the art world.
